Mission & Beliefs
Kenwood Baptist Church at Victory Memorial exists to make disciples of Jesus Christ and equip the saints by the power of the Holy Spirit to the glory of God the Father.
The way we pursue this is by helping our members know and love the triune God, by training them for the work of the ministry, and by spreading the gospel near and abroad.
Nicene Creed
Kenwood stands with the church through the ages and around the world in holding to “the faith that was once for all delivered to the saints” (Jude 3). To that end, we recite one of the historic creeds each Sunday. Below is the Nicene Creed, which we encourage you to memorize, to recite with your family, and to fuel your devotion to our triune God.
Beliefs
Kenwood is in glad cooperation with the Southern Baptist Convention and affirms the SBC’s statement of faith, “The Baptist Faith and Message.” We also subscribe to the SBC’s oldest statement of faith, “The Abstract of Principles.” These statements are faithful summaries of what the Bible calls us to believe, and Kenwood elders and members hold them without reservation.
Because we hold to the inerrancy of Scripture and to the Bible’s teaching about manhood and womanhood and sexuality, Kenwood also affirms the Chicago Statement on Biblical Inerrancy, the Danvers Statement, and the Nashville Statement.
We also have all our members sign a church covenant. Church covenants have a long history in Baptist churches as articulations of how the New Testament calls Christians to live, serve, and function together as a church. The church covenant gives our members an opportunity to express their commitment to faithful church membership.
