Women

Our ministry to the ladies at Kenwood seeks to build up the faith of our women and strengthen the bonds of love and fellowship among each other through the gospel of Jesus Christ. We currently work toward this goal through our ladies’ Accountability Groups, our Book Groups, our intercessory emails, and our regular times of fellowship.

Our Accountability Groups generally meet once every two weeks with 3-4 women in a group. These are designed to be times when we come together vulnerably to confess sin and pray for one another. We utilize a list of questions to talk through which aim to get at the heart of struggles women commonly have and also have the benefit of drawing us more intimately together and unifying us as women.

Our Book Group meets approximately every six weeks. We read various types of literature, with each book chosen for the purpose of strengthening our love for Christ and others. We purchase the books, read them at home, and then come together as a group to share snacks and thoughtfully discuss what we have learned and how we have grown from the reading.

Our intercessory emails are a collection of prayer requests gathered each week and emailed to the women of Kenwood. These help keep us connected to one another more deeply throughout the week give us a window into the hearts of those we might not be able to talk with all the time.

Our fellowship gatherings take different forms and happen at different times. During the holidays, we’ve enjoyed potluck meals together where we share dishes and recipes. We’ve occasionally had coffee at various places in the city. We’ve also had a night of knitting and other crafts, and we have had many, many baby shower fellowships!

Lastly, of course, we encourage our ladies to be as involved as possible in the overall life of the body at Kenwood by participating in church events such as our weekly Wednesday night Bible studies, our community outreaches, church workdays, etc. Our women’s ministry strives to keep a balance between both offering enough options for women eager to grow through much participation yet also keeping the activities manageable, so that our ladies are able to best glorify Christ by maintaining right priorities and investing their hearts and time into their other responsibilities outside the church.
